Heart of the Shepherd

Mission Shop

"Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this,
To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep
himself unspotted from the world."  James 1:27
Heart of the Shepherd works with several nations, providing training in rural
impoverished communities, This training is generally in the area of animal
husbandry or  fiber arts.   The ultimate objective is to assist these people in a
manner that encourages them to produce a product that can be sold.  In this
way the people are not given a "hand out but a hand up."    One of the tenants
of this training is to work with indigenous people in a manner that allows the
talents of their ancestral heritage to be respectfully maintained.  For example, a
village in Thailand that works with silk Heart of the Shepherd encouraged the
production of silk products.  In a village in Sierra Leone that has historically
worked with cotton, they encouraged and trained the villagers to produce cotton
products.  At a dacha in Russia, the orphans were trained to produce products
from wool produced by their sheep.  This work is generally provided in areas
where there is no electricity.

Some of the products are sold by Heart of the Shepherd, and 100% of the
proceeds are returned to the people group or missions that have produced
