    WOOLLY WEEKEND

    Friday April 24th & Saturday April 25th from 10AM -7PM

  • Woolly Weekend is a "sheep farm experience." Come and watch the sheep
as they are shorn by shearers, and the wool is spun and woven into a
finished product. This is one of Oklahoma's few "Sheep to Shawl"
    experiences.
  • Shepherd's Cross is a real working sheep farm, with a mini wool mill,
    including spinning, felting, & weaving.
  • Biblical references to the sheep & the shepherd are interlaced in this farm
    experience.
  • The Bible Garden will be available for mini tours & self-guided tours. There
are over 150 plants, in the garden, that are related to the Bible.
  • Shepherd's Cross is a state agritourism accredited facility.
  • Shearing is indoors, and will proceed regardless of weather.
  • There is no charge for the event. Donations are graciously accepted.  We
have a public non-profit organization - Heart of the Shepherd that funds
    these events.
  • Fiber arts lessons are available - including spinning and drop spindling,
knitting & crocheting.  See the website for further information.  Email or call
    to register for lessons.
  • Come and go throughout the day as your time schedule allows.
    Demonstrations continue throughout each day.
  • Picnic tables are available in the Bible Garden
  • Fiber Arts Demonstrators are needed ~ let us know if you can help out

from Isaiah 53 "Like a sheep before her shearers is silent."  so our
Lord Jesus went to the cross, to take our place.  Come & witness the
    meaning of this scripture.

Mid Summer 2009 at Shepherd's Cross

To everything there is a time and a season . . . Here on the farm it sounds something
    like this . . . A time to lamb . . . A time to shear . . . A time to wean . . . A time to plant . . .
    A time to harvest . . .

  • The TODDS (State Highway) signs are up on Hwy 66 . . . They make it much easier to
find us!  Thanks to the agritourism board for helping us out!  We are so grateful!
  • A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 - Summer Bible Study  -  Thursdays - June 18th
through August 6th.  This is a 10 week study of Phillip Keller’s Book - as well as
personal impartation from the shepherds at Shepherd’s Cross.   Two times are
    available - 9:00 - 10:30 am or 7:00 - 8:15 p.m.  The only cost for the study is the
purchase of the book - which is $5.00.  If you  already have a copy of Keller’s book,
simply bring it with you.  We will have the book available here, to purchase.  Please let
us know if you would like to participate so we can have a book on hand for you.
  • “Barn” Sale - Garage Sale - to raise funds for mission trip to Malawi, Africa - June
    12th & 13th from 7 am - 7 pm - indoors - in the tour barn - rain or shine.  Heart of
the Shepherd (our public non-profit organization) is sending a mission group to
Malawi, Africa this summer, and we are raising funds for the medical supplies as
well as for the needs of the orphans in the orphanage where we will stay.  If you have
items you would like to donate, simply drop them off, or let us know and we may be
able to pick them up.  During this challenging economic season - come on out -
stretch that dollar - and help the impoverished orphans and villagers of Malawi - one
of the poorest nations in the world.  Additionally, we are taking donations for medical
supplies - we will be helping in the human medical clinic as well as providing
veterinary medical care for the area villages.  We will be teaching basic agriculture
skills,  and assisting in a variety of ways in the self sustaining 80 acre orphanage.  As
always, donations are tax deductible.  Thank you for your prayers and assistance.
The mission trip is scheduled for July 20th - August 7th.
  • Shepherd’s Cross is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday, throughout the year.
Mini tours of the farm, barn, mini wool mill and bible garden are available simply by
dropping by.  Complete tours and group tours are by appointment only.

  • Summer Intern - Chris Johnson - from Barclay College in Kansas - has arrived.
Chris is a pastoral ministry student, truly gifted with a “pastor’s heart”.  He is learning
first hand the shepherding parables, as well as the many other biblical metaphoric
lessons that farm life has to offer.  Drop by and meet Chris.
  • Volunteer Program - is off and running.  We have several volunteers that help us out,
providing a multitude of services.  If you would like to be a part of the volunteer
program, let us know what  type of things you are gifted at, or would like to do.  We
would love to work with you.  There is a "Jr. Shepherd" program available for the
younger volunteers that are interested ~ simply ask about details.

During this season in American history . . . Remember  . . . .  Who is your Shepherd?  The Big
Daddy.  The One who set the foundations of the earth.  He is the Good Shepherd.  He knows
the path of righteousness for His sheep.  We are His sheep, for we call Him by name.  We
spend time with Him.  We know His voice.  His rod and staff they comfort us.  Even in the
midst of trials we have this comfort and peace.
May He richly bless each one of you as you follow His lead.

    Summer Internship
Chris Johnson interned with us this summer. Chris is a pastoral major from Barclay College
in Kansas. He humbly came, to learn of the “stable scene” in which Jesus himself was
born. Chris learned many principles of the sheep and the Shepherd to carry him through
life’s journey. We are grateful to have had the opportunity to labor with him. Check out the
volunteer page on the website to see Chris form in action this summer. Chris left such a
great mark at the farm, that we are seeking a fall and spring intern.

"Give and it will be given unto you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and
running over, will it be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be
    measured to you." Luke 6:38
